We are excited to announce a 12-month internship opportunity for a server-cook role at our Hillbrow office. This opportunity is open to candidates who:
* * Are between the ages of 18 and 34;
* Have never held a full-time position before, and preferably have not participated in a learnership or internship before;
* Are South African Citizens;
* Have a minimum qualification of Matric;
* Must be passionate about serving food to customers, be willing to learn more about the food industry, and have a relevant qualification in the food industry;
* Are not currently in full-time studies and can attend this internship full-time;
* Are willing to be subjected to a credit and criminal check or any industry-specific checks required for your role; and
* Live within 50km of our office, which is situated at 30 Edith Cavell Street, Hillbrow, Johannesburg.
The internship starts on the 1st of July 2026 and ends on the 30th of June 2027.
Job purpose: To serve customers efficiently, maintain a clean service area, and ensure a positive customer experience & to prepare and cook meals according to menu standards while ensuring quality, nutrition, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve food and beverages to customers
- Handle cash or point-of-sale transactions
- Maintain the cleanliness of serving and dining areas
- Restock display items and serving stations
- Assist customers with menu choices
- Follow hygiene and food handling standards
- Prepare and cook meals as per the menu plan
- Ensure portion control and consistency
- Maintain the cleanliness of the kitchen and equipment
- Monitor food quality and freshness
- Assist in menu planning (where required)
- Ensure that all sales are recorded on Oodo
- Work in collaboration with the business training facilitator
- Assist with post-training support
Skills
- Good communication and customer service
- Basic numeracy (handling money)
- Friendly and professional attitude
- Cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation
- Time management in a busy environment
- Knowledge of hygiene and food safety
