Lungile Maseko grew up in Soweto, where she developed a strong desire to succeed. Her life changed when she got the chance to attend beauty classes sponsored by one of our partners, Alliance Française. Lungile learned about entrepreneurship from her father, who ran a spaza shop, and she saw how hard work is necessary for success.
As the oldest child, Lungile felt pressure because she did not receive university acceptance letters after matriculation (Grade 12). Instead of giving up, she used her determination to find new opportunities.
When she learned about Outreach’s three-week beautician training course, she jumped at the chance. She embraced the training enthusiastically, and since then, she has successfully opened a salon in one of her father’s backyard rooms.
“Today, I am very grateful to the Outreach Foundation and Alliance Française for providing such valuable skills to our community,” Lungile said.
