Business Skills Training Internship

Job description:

A key outcome of this position would be coordinating the small-medium enterprise development unit as part of incubation for students graduating from the skills development courses.

The skills development centre offers training specifically to unemployed youth between the ages of 18- 34, and through this intervention, adds market-related skills to participants to eventually become economically independent.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist students with the training and the development of individual business plans;
  • Training of students in basic business and entrepreneurship skills;
  • Assist students by creating a pathway that leads to an exit strategy from the incubation programme;
  • Function as part of a multi-disciplinary team that guides the progress of students during incubation and to primarily address key gaps and needs identified by participants in the incubation process;
  • Link students with internships, employment, and self-employment opportunities; and
  • Assist in tracking progress on small-scale businesses set up by graduates of the training and incubation programmes.

Qualifications and qualities:

  • The candidate must at least have qualified with a degree or diploma in Business Management or Entrepreneurial studies and must be a passionate social entrepreneur with good, strong skills in working with people.
  • The person must be willing to take risks, especially in turbulent and challenging times; and

Requirements:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 34;
  • Have never had any formal employment;
  • Be a South African Citizen;
  • Are not currently in full-time studies and can attend this internship full-time;
  • Add a cover letter stating why you want to do the internship and specify which city/town you are applying for; and
  • We will also require a completed application form, a certified copy of your ID no older than 3 months, and a certified copy of your highest qualification.

The start date of the internship is the 1st of July 2023, and the end date is the 30th of June 2024.
