Published on 12 August 2022: Outreach Foundation’s Migrant support programme, which is part of the social services department, handed out assistive devices to persons with disabilities in August. Outreach Foundation is an implementing partner for the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). Sixty-eight persons with disabilities attended the event and were excited for those that received new wheelchairs and walking sticks to help them with their everyday lives.
Outreach Foundation has been working with persons with disabilities for a few months on behalf of IOM, giving them psycho-social support and skills training. The programme is aimed at helping them become self-sustainable and able members of their communities.
Various people in the audience gave thanks for the courses they attended at Outreach Foundation and expressed their hope to start their own businesses.
We’d like to thank IOM and the Irish Embassy in Pretoria for giving us the opportunity to make such a big difference in these people’s lives.
