Social Auxilliary Worker Intern

2 x Johannesburg, 2 x Pretoria and 1 x Musina (please note that being a French-speaking applicant would be beneficial for the Musina position)

Responsible for all Administration work of the Social Services Department;

Responsible for all departmental case files;

To participate in support/information meetings and one-to-one supervision meetings held in Johannesburg every Friday;

Attend relevant training courses and workshops;

To provide Psychosocial support, Life skills and Career counselling;

To undertake required record-keeping procedures, including reporting verbally to the supervisor and completing any relevant programme forms;

Assist with intake and referrals;

Collect information relevant to clients’ needs and assessing their relevant skills, strengths and deficits;

Assist clients to identify options and develop plans of action while providing necessary support and assistance;

Conduct follow-ups with new and existing clients telephonically and by way of home visits;

Assist clients in identifying and accessing community resources, including medical, financial assistance, housing, employment, transportation and other referral services;

Assist with facilitation of Adults and Children’s Support Groups;

Assist with all the projects facilitated at the Outreach Foundation;

Assist with community awareness campaigns;

Assist with monitoring and reporting on clients’ progress; and

Maintain contact with other social service agencies, schools and health care providers involved with clients to provide information and obtain feedback on clients’ overall situation and progress.

Qualifications:

Qualified as a Social Worker and/or have an Honours degree in Psychology; and
Registered with the SACSSP as a Social Worker.

Requirements:
* Be between the ages of 18 and 34;
* Have never had any formal employment;
* Be a South African Citizen;
* Must have the qualifications listed above;
* Are not currently in full-time studies and can attend this internship full-time;

* We will also require a completed application form, a certified copy of your ID no
older than 3 months, and a certified copy of your highest qualification.

The start date of the internship is the 1st of July 2024, and the end date is the 30th of June 2025.
