Paralegal Intern

  • Reporting to the immigration Lawyer and programme manager;
  • Collaborating with the social workers, consultant and immigration Lawyer;
  • Managing the caseload from intake through processing and filing;
  • Preparing applications for permanent residency and secondary benefits for foreign nationals;
  • Processing and filing national- and immigrant applications;
  • Gathering applications and information from external clients;
  • Keeping clients apprised of the progress of their cases;
  • Ability to manage immigration inquiries, gather required information, and keep clients informed of progress;
  • Maintaining hard copy files and entering data into an immigration case management system; and
  • Responding to immigration inquiries promptly and adhering to submission deadlines.

Skills, Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Completed LLB degree, Paralegal or BCOM Law;
  • Ability to collaborate with immigration attorneys and regional paralegal managers;
  • Extensive knowledge of visa, permanent residency, and secondary benefit applications;
  • High attention to detail;
  • Good understanding of the migration and legal framework;
  • A passion for and understanding of migration;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Excellent MS Office and spreadsheet/database development skills;
  • Able to handle multiple projects, prioritize work and work effectively under limited supervision;
  • Able to work under pressure and deliver under short timeframes; and
  • Good project management skills.

Requirements:
* Be between the ages of 18 and 34;
* Have never had any formal employment;
* Be a South African Citizen;
* Must have the qualifications listed above;
* Are not currently in full-time studies and can attend this internship full-time;
* Add a cover letter stating why you want to do the internship and specify which

* We will also require a completed application form, a certified copy of your ID no
older than 3 months, and a certified copy of your highest qualification.

The start date of the internship is the 1st of July 2024, and the end date is the 30th of June 2025.
