Along with the skills training we offer, we also have a very active Social Services Department. This department is responsible for mobilising a number of workshops. It also offers family preservation services, substance abuse services, and migrant support.
Every year Outreach Foundation hosts workshops on a number of subjects such as economic empowerment, parenting, career guidance, substance abuse, human rights, labour issues and immigration issues.
The most recent workshop held was around gender-based violence (GBV). Outreach Foundation was among other organisations, such as Partners for Sustainable Development Solutions, Lawyers Against Abuse, and The Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, that raised the topic with the community in and around HIllbrow. The workshop’s aim was to increase awareness of the subject and share knowledge on GBV.
GBV has a devastating impact on our society, and everyone is impacted by it. We actively encourage men to attend our workshops, and the subject is also raised when interacting with the youth.
